1. Open Real Producer.

STEP 2 is for the first session each semester, once you've done this, skip to Step #3

2. Each course will have a different server template. One server template for each course.

For example, to create a server destination for HRE 411:

1. Go to "Edit" and "Server Templates" and copy any template for any other course.

2. Then change the course information in the "Template Name" and "Path (Optional)" fields -- as shown in the right column.

DEFINITIONS:

Template Name
--Name: Based on Course
Broadcast Method
--Push, Account Based Login -- The type set up by OCE
Server Address
--The web address we point to for streaming
Path
--Where the archive will save
Port
--The determined port by OCE for streaming

Username: hre-tas

Password: BusyStreamy

Go to Edit and Server Templates.

Copy any template from the list.

Change the two fields shown in the following images to reflect the course you
are setting up.

3. Select Input Device. Input file is selected as the system default. In order to capture the music or audio, you need to select "Devices" and then select the third option from the Audio pull down menu, "SoundMAX Digital Audio."

4. VERY IMPORTANT! Real Producer does not remember the previous capturing configuration, and defaults to multiple streams. You should always check the audience settings and select either 28 KB modem users or 16KB Substream (16KB STRONGLY PREFERRED).

There are two ways to set the audiences.

1. Click "Audiences" button that is located on the right panel. Delete all the settings that will not be used except 16KB Substream for 28K dial-up.

2. OR go to "Settings" and "Show Audiences" and then follow the previous instruction.

5. Now it is time to choose the server destination for the course you are working on.

Click the second of the four small icons on the right bottom of the right panel. It looks like a door icon.

The following configuration will pop up. Then click "Templates" button and choose your course.

Cut the path and paste it to the "Stream name" field. Then click OK.

6. Click the "Encode" button on the bottom to start your stream.

7. Click "Stop" when the broadcasting session is over.

8. The file will be automatically created in the Helix Server at the path you have chosen.
start/run/ \\oce7\HelixContent

The file name after each stream will be identical.
IMPORTANT: You must edit the file as soon as the synch session is over and rename it then move it to the correct course folder in:
start/run/ \\oce7\HelixContent \ContentRoot\hre\hre411\hre411su05\archive -
in your course folder

9. Go to file/ Edit RealMedia File... to edit the file.

RealMedia Editor will pop up. Open the file you want to edit from the Helix server (e.g.,\\oce7\HelixContent \ContentRoot\hre\live\hre411).

Play the file clicking "Play" and set in and out time. Then save it as different name (ex. 061105.rm) under the folder for HRE 411 in the Helix Server (e.g., \\oce7\helixcontent\ContentRoot\hre\hre411\hre411su05\archive).

10. Create pointer (.ram) file in Notepad

Ex: 061105.ram (06/11/05 HRE411)

rtsp://hre-stream.outreach.uiuc.edu/hre/hre411/hre411su05/061105.rm

--Transfer the ram file to the COE server
start/run/ \\ed-w3\wwwroot\hre\courses
