Tutorial: Creating Audio PPT lectures with Adobe Presenter

Please note: Use the NEW PPT template. It's stored on the HRE Online Network Drive at: courses\ppt_template\sample_template_use_this_file.ppt

What you should have:

I.                    File Setting

1. Open a PowerPoint file. Then you will see ‘Adobe Presenter’ on the menu bar.

2. Go to ‘Preference’ under ‘Adobe Presenter’, where you can add instructor information and set quality, servers, and audio source.

3. Go to ‘Presenter’ and click ‘add’. Type instructor’s name, job title, email address, and short bio. Also, you can add his/her picture and HRE Online logo. Note that the image file format should be either PNG or JPEG.

4. Go to ‘Quality’ and select the quality level you want for the file. I recommend you to have medium quality for a lecture file.

5. As for ‘Server’ and ‘Audio Source’, I recommend you not to change them.

6. Go to ‘Presentation Settings” under ‘Adobe Presenter’ on the menu bar.

7. Type a title and summary of the lecture and make sure that ‘Auto play presentation on start’ is checked.

II.                  To combine audio with PPT

1. Go to ‘Import Audio’, where you can combine an audio file with PPT slides.

2. If you have several audio files for each slide, you can add audio files one by one.

Select the starting slide and click ‘Browse’ to choose an audio file for the first slide.

And then you can click and select the next slide, and click ‘Browse’ to choose an audio file for the next slide. Please make sure that ‘Compress’ is checked.

And then click ‘OK’ to import the audio file(s).

3. If you have an audio file for all the slides, you can use ‘Audio Editor’.

Go to ‘Audio Editor’ under ‘Adobe Presenter’ on the menu bar. Since you add an audio file for the first slide, the other slides will be located after the end of the audio. Please find a time when slide 2, 3, and 4 should be inserted.

For example, if the slide 2 is supposed to start after 1minutes and 10 seconds, click the bar for the slide 2 and drag and put it at “00:01:10”.  In this way, you can locate the other slides on the audio tract.

4. If a part of the audio file should be deleted, you can choose the part by clicking and dragging, and then press the ‘delete’ key.

5. And save it.

III.                To Publish the combined file

1. Go to ‘Publish’ under ‘Adobe Presenter’ on the menu bar.

2. Select ‘My Computer’ and click ‘Browse’ to locate a folder in which the files you would create should be saved. Also, you can select a graphic Theme (a skin) for a webpage.

3. And then, click “Publish”.

4. If you go to the file folder, which you chose for saving the files, you will see several files and a folder. You should copy all the files and folders and paste them to the HRE Online web server. Also, you should make a link to ‘index.htm’ in order to share the lecture.
